The Story Behind the Full Stop.
There's a question we get asked a lot.
"Why Kinda.?"
Fair question. It's a little unusual. Not the name you'd expect from a sustainability organisation. No "eco" in it. No "green." No "future" (well, actually – but that comes later).
Here's the honest answer.
Sustainability can feel like an all-or-nothing thing. Either you're living off-grid with a composting toilet and a backyard full of kale, or you're failing. Either you've got it figured out, or you don't.
That pressure is exhausting. And it's not working.
Most of us are doing our best with what we've got. We're kinda composting. Kinda buying local. Kinda thinking about where our stuff comes from. And that "kinda" is worth something. It's not a cop-out. It's a starting point.
So we built an organisation that meets people there. Not where they should be. Where they actually are.
The full stop matters too. It's intentional. It says: this is a name. A whole thing. Not a half-thought, not a hedge. Kinda. is decided, even if the journey is gradual.
We're based in Launceston, in Lutruwita (Tasmania). We acknowledge the Palawa people as the traditional custodians of this land, and we're learning, alongside our community, what it means to care for Country in the long term.
What we're building is an ecosystem. A community platform, events, resources, and programmes that make sustainability feel less like a burden and more like something you actually want to be part of.
Small steps. Compounding over time. Big ripples.
That's the Kinda. way.
We're glad you found us.
